Anthony Abbate

“I have been honing my skills ever since I was able to hold a pencil."

"I was born in Providence Rhode Island and have been residing in Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1981. I studied fine arts at Rhode Island College. My artistic journey began at an early age, and I have been honing my skills ever since I was able to hold a pencil. Over the years, I have explored various mediums and techniques experimenting with photography, sculpture, ink, charcoal, pastels, acrylics, oils, and watercolors. In 2009 I began experimenting in a medium I call “Photographic Rendering.” The process begins with photographing the subject matter with a digital camera then taking the images into Photoshop™ and reworking them, selectively fading, or enhancing objects, changing colors, abstracting and embellishing backgrounds, using extensive layering, modification and alteration. Most often the final work looks like a watercolor.

I have had a gallery on Canyon Road and in the Inn and Spa at Loretto Hotel in Santa Fe. My work has been featured in several hotels in New Mexico, including The Eldorado Hotel, the Fairmont, the Four Seasons, Bishops Lodge, and the Hotel Andalouse. My Works have been on exhibit in several Galleries in New Mexico including, Janine Stern Fine Arts, Gallery 901, Bill Hester Fine Art, Preston McCall Fine Arts and Gallery D in Palm Desert, California.  I am currently represented at The Drury Hotel and Moss Outdoor in Santa Fe."
